Jessica Szohr says playing her 'Gossip Girl' character became "repetitive".
The 26-year-old actress - who, along with Taylor Momsen, was dropped from the fifth season of the US show earlier this month - doesn't mind that she won't be returning as Vanessa Abrams because she was "ready for a change" after getting "the most she could" out of the role.
She explained: "When I started the fourth season, I kind of had a talk with the producers. We didn't know what we were going to do with the characters. After playing someone for four years, it can be a little repetitive. So I was ready for a change.
"I had so much fun and I made friends I'll have for a lifetime and it was so great to work in the city, but I got the most I could out of Vanessa."
The brunette beauty - who has previously dated co-star Ed Westwick - said she will "probably" stay in touch with other cast members including Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Penn Badgley and Chace Crawford, but is concentrating on moving her career to the big screen and spending more time with friends.
When asked who she'll keep in contact with she said: "Probably the people I'm closest to.
She continued to E! online: "I have two movies that I start in August and July and I have a couple movies coming out in the next couple months.
"I'm gonna take a trip with all my girlfriends. I'll probably go to the Hamptons a few times."
