Singer Jill Scott Is Changing Her Tune After It Was Revealed Embattled Actor Bill Cosby Admitted To Obtaining Quaaludes With The Intent Of Giving Them To Young Women He Wanted To Have Sex With In Newly-released Documents From A 2005 Court Deposition, Insisting She "Was Wrong" For Supporting Him.
The Golden hitmaker came under fire last year (14) when she stood by her "mentor" following claims from over 30 women, alleging Cosby drugged and raped them.
On Monday (06Jul15), testimony from a 2005 sex case was made public and in it Cosby confesses to giving former Temple University employee, Andrea Constand, three half-pills of Benadryl after she accused him of assaulting her.
Scott is now speaking out about the testimony, admitting she is "completely disgusted" by the news.
In a series of messages on Twitter.com, she writes, "About Bill Cosby. Sadly his own testimony offers PROOF of terrible deeds, which is ALL I have ever required to believe the accusations."
"We live in America. Many African American men are detained &/or imprisoned for crimes without evidence. I will never jump on bandwagons based on social media or hearsay. Proof will always matter more than public opinion. The sworn testimony is proof. Completely disgusted."
She continues, "I stood by a man I respected and loved. I was wrong. It HURTS!!!"
"Reasoning with the angry & unreasonable? No. I'm not sorry for standing by my mentor. I'm sorry the accusations Rtrue (sic)."
The comedian testified under oath in connection with that lawsuit, which was settled for undisclosed terms in 2006.
Meanwhile, former The Cosby Show star Raven-Symone is still hesitant about weighing in on the controversy.
During Tuesday's (07Jul15) episode of her U.S. talk show The View, she stated, "I don't really like to talk about it that much because he's the reason I'm on this panel in the first place; he gave me my first job. But at the same time, you need proof and then I'll be able to give my judgement here or there and I think now that there are facts, more people can come out (with further proof)."
Her co-host and fellow actress, Whoopi Goldberg, adds, "I don't like snap judgements, because I've had snap judgements made on me... In America, still... you actually are innocent until proven guilty. He has not been proven (guilty yet)..."
