Cathriona White, the on-off girlfriend of Jim Carrey who passed away last week, was apparently married to another man at the time of her death, according to a new report.

A Medical Examiner’s official told The Hollywood Reporter on Monday evening (October 5th) that the 28 year old, who is believed to have taken her own life through an overdose of prescription drugs, was married to Mark Burton, a cameraman who she met in Los Angeles when they were working on an online comedy series.

Although they were of course no longer together, little is known other than that Burton was listed as White’s next of kin, and his identity was discovered when coroners began their investigations. “She was separated and she was going to start divorce proceedings in December,” a source confirmed. It’s not confirmed how long they had been married, nor when they had met or separated.

Her body has now been reportedly been released to Burton, who is understood to be making arrangements with White’s family for a funeral in her native Ireland.

The news comes soon after authorities confirmed that four prescription were found in White’s apartment when she was discovered dead by friends on September 28th, a matter of days after she and Carrey had ended their relationship for a second time.

A source told People that the drugs – which included Ambien, Percocet, Propranolol and Zofran – were not in White’s name, and in fact belonged to Carrey, who had been prescribed them under an alias. "[Cathriona] took them from his house. He had no idea. He wasn't actively using them and therefore had no idea they were even missing.”

The source added: “There is no criminal investigation on him and he has already spoken to authorities.”
