'Dumb & Dumber To' has beaten 'Big Hero 6' at the box-office, though it will surrender that position to 'The Hunger Games' this weekend.
Dumb & Dumber To, the sequel to Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels' classic comedy movie, has posted $38.1 million on its opening weekend at the box-office. The movie edged out the critically acclaimed Disney animation Big Hero 6, which took $36 million for its second weekend.
Dumb & Dumber To took over $38 million at the box-office
Christopher Nolan's visual epic Interstellar had to settle for third place on the back of criticism of its sound. Some viewers have complained that sections of dialogue are difficult to hear - as was the case in The Dark Knight Rises - though the director told the Hollywood Reporter that was intentional.
He said the idea was "to experience the journey the character is going on," adding, "I've always loved films that approach sound in an impressionistic way and that is an unusual approach for a mainstream blockbuster, but I feel it's the right approach."

The sci-fi movie, starring Matthew McConaughey and Anne Hathaway as astronauts seeking a new planet for mankind to inhabit, made around $29.2m (£18.6m) in the US and Canada on its third weekend on release.
Dumb & Dumber To will surrender the top spot to The Hunger Games this weekend
Dumb & Dumber To represented Carrey's most successful debut in a live-action movie since Bruce Almighty.
"The timing was right for a comedy of this nature, one with broad appeal," said Nikki Rocco, of distributor Universal Pictures.
Despite a strong opening week, the comedy will surrender the top spot at the box-office this weekend, with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 likely to debut to big numbers. In fact, all the major studios have stayed well away from the November 21 release date, meaning Dumb & Dumber will likely make enough to drop just one place.
