Carrey has had two lawsuits brought against him claiming he had a hand in ex-girlfriend Cathriona White's suicide last year.
Jim Carrey is taking legal action of his own as he fights two separate lawsuits brought against him that accuse him of complicity in his ex-girlfriend’s suicide.
The 54 year old actor has filed a 10-page document detailing his relationship with 30 year old Cathriona White, a stylist and actress whom he dating on and off for nearly three years before she committed suicide in September 2015.
It hits back at claims brought by her mother, Brigid Sweetman, and estranged husband, Mark Burton, who have both brought lawsuits against Carrey accusing him giving White three sexually transmitted diseases, and that he provided her with the prescription pills she used to take her own life.

According to People, who saw the court documents in question, Carrey’s account reads: “Between 2012 and 2015, I was involved in two romantic relationships with Cathriona White.
“Although there were times during this period we were broken up, for much of the time between 2012 and 2015 we were together as a couple, including after she reached out to me in November 2014 to reconcile and resume our relationship which lasted until her death.”
Carrey’s lawyers are seeking to put the litigation on a temporary halt until Sweetman posts a $372,700 bail, which they say is necessary to cover Carrey’s legal expenses.
Carrey also recounted his surprise when he found out she had married Burton, describing it something she did only to obtain a green card to avoid deportation back to her native Ireland. She had previously asked Carrey to marry her so she could remain in the States, but he refused.
“To my surprise, I later learned that in January 2013 Cat married a man in Las Vegas for her green card, while at the same time maintaining her actual relationship with me,” he said.
He also addressed the contents of the lawsuits that allege he gave her STDs, calling them “categorical lies”. He also dismissed Sweetman’s subsequent lawsuit as a “shakedown”.
“Normally Cat was very sweet, but when she felt rejected or upset she was prone to making up horrible stories and acting out in vindictive ways,” he continued.
“Despite the rocky ending of our first relationship, Cat and I decided to put our breakup behind us and start seeing each other again. What followed was a new relationship, with ten wonderful, loving months together of the most beautiful relationship ever.”
In response, legal representatives for Sweetman and Burton said to the MailOnline that Carrey’s statement was only issued to “fix” his reputation. “Earlier today, Jim Carrey filed a baseless motion with the court as part of his continued attack on a grieving mother. His conduct is disgusting and dishonest. Who attacks a mother of a dead girl?”
