Jim Carrey is hot pursuit, reports Deadline.com. The funny-man is Universal Picture's number one target to play the role of Colonel Stars in Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall.
Carrey, 50, is reportedly a huge fan of the original Kick-Ass film, which starred Nicolas Cage and Chloe Moretz. "He wore the Kick-Ass costume for a musical duet with a bearded Conan O'Brien. But dealmaking is dealmaking, and this is far from a sure thing, at this point just a great idea" states the website. The sequel is set to bring back all its previous stars, but by courting Carrey for the second instalment of the comic book hit, Universal are pushing the franchise even further, it seems.
The Dumb and Dumber actor has won numerous accolades and has appeared in comedy favourites like The Mask, Ace Ventura: Pet Detective and Bruce Almighty. He's not afraid to flex his 'serious' acting muscles though, and has excelled in dramas such as The Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind, as well as the thriller, The Number 23. His pedigree would represent a coup for the Kick Ass team, and his inclusion would boost the film's profile massively. His proposed character will be on the good side of the axis, according to the website: "the character is called The Colonel, and he helps galvanize the team of misfit super heroes assembled to fight evil."
