Jim Carrey is reportedly in negotiations to star in 'Loomis Fargo'.
The 'Truman Show' star is said to be in talks with 'Napoleon Dynamite' director Jared Hess and producers Lorne Michaels and John Goldwyn about starring in the feature film, which will tell the story of a group of Southerners who stole $17 million from an armed Loomis Fargo truck in 1997 in one of the biggest heists in American history.
According to TheWrap.com, Relativity Media is trying to sort finance and distribute the film and hopes to start filming in North Carolina in February or March next year.
Emily Spivey wrote up the first draft of the script, followed by Jody Hill and Danny McBride rewriting it and Chris Bowman and Hubbel Palmer penning the latest draft.
The comedy film will follow Loomis Fargo employee David Scott Ghantt - who looks set to be played by Jim if he signs up for the movie - and his fellow worker Kelly Campbell and friend Steve Chambers as they carried out the robbery.
The incident was written about in the book, ''Heist!: The $17 Million Loomis Fargo Theft,'' by Jeff Diamant and it is thought David took $50,000 over the US border to Mexico and hid there until his arrest in 1998.
But a spokesman for WME has distanced Jim from reports linking him with the film.
Jim's next role in the big screen is opposite Steve Carell and Olivia Wilde in 'The Incredible Burt Wonderstone'.
