Appearing on 'Desert Island Discs', Carr reflected that the 2012 scandal could easily have ended his career.
Stand-up comedian Jimmy Carr has recalled the public furore over his tax affairs five years ago in a new interview, in which he admitted that the incident could have been a “career ender”.
The 44 year old presenter hit the headlines in June 2012 over his participation in the K2 tax avoidance scheme, which drew public attention for its ‘aggressive’ methods of minimising tax liability.
The then-prime minister David Cameron described it as “very dodgy” and “morally wrong”. Under pressure, Carr pulled out of the scheme, apologising at the time for a “terrible error of judgment”.

The awards celebrate Britain's unsung heroes, which this year included Welsh lollipop lady Karin Williams who threw herself in front of an out of control car to save a group of children. The kids also accompanied Ms. Williams to the awards. Attending the awards in a wheelchair, Ms. Williams' modesty was moving.

Nicole Scherzinger was the guest of honour at last night’s launch of EE, the 4G network. And to add a real sense of occasion to the event, she was wearing the first ever ‘Twitter Dress.’ The elaborate garment was designed by Cute Circuit and included 500 Swarovski crystals, according to STV, as well as around 2000 LED lights, which displayed messages posted to Twitter, when users included the address @EE and the hashtag #tweethedress. So, as Twitter users posted messages, they scrolled across Nicole Scherzinger’s… er… lower regions. We’re not entirely sure WHY this dress was invented but it sure looked interesting!
They’d done a decent job of hiding all the necessary battery packs and LED fittings, anyway and Nicole was looking sumptuous as ever in the silk chiffon dress. We’ll bet she was pretty warm inside all those lights, though; especially when she took to the stage to perform ’Try With Me’ and the Pussycat Dolls song ‘Don’t Cha’ Nicole may have been the only celebrity there in a ground-breaking Twitter dress, but there were plenty of other stars out in force last night.
Kelly Holmes, Pixie Lott and Jimmy Carr were also in attendance at the event, which was hosted by EE, the company that owns Orange and T-Mobile, to launch the UK’s fourth generation mobile network. Tomorrow, of course, will be back to normal for Nicole Scherzinger, as she will return to the judging panel on X Factor.
For most people, Halloween means fashioning some kind of mummy outfit out of an old bed sheet that you no longer need. Or popping down the pound shop for a witch’s hat and cheap face paint. It means carving a rudimentary smile in a pumpkin. It means traipsing round the neighbourhood with your children whilst they beg people for confectionary that’s actually worth more than the cheap outfit you hastily dressed them up to go trick or treating. Or it means staying home and pretending that you’re not in, whilst watching a marathon of horror DVDs.
Not if you’re Jonathan Ross though. Oh no. The formerly-disgraced-but-now-sort-of-back-in-everyone’s-good-books TV presenter must be planning to throw one hell (see what we did there) of a party because he’s got workers in transforming his palatial home into some kind of castle, or dungeon. No expense spared for a party at Wossy’s house, folks!
