Work
Interscope
Release Date: 28 March 2005 Taken from new album “Futures”, “Work” is a totally radio-friendly single from American rock band Jimmy Eat World. The first thing that springs to mind is how much Gil Norton’s production is evident here – the man who gave us Feeder’s Comfort in Sound has had a clear impact, mostly in the polished guitar sounds and the perfect balance between frontman Jim Adkins‘s fantastic voice and the rest of his band, whose essence is
still of being stadium-rock. Catchy as hell, “Work” features guest vocals from nothing less than legendary lady of rock Liz Phair, duetting in the chorus and adding so much oomph to simple “oh-ohs” in the backing vocals. A soaring melody and a singalong chorus make this power-ballad a grower, and one promising to be on every commercial radio station in this country.
