Jj Abrams – like many a Star Wars fan – is struggling to envisage a Star Wars movie without the music of John Williams, the Hollywood Reporter have revealed. During a press conference in Berlin for another of Abram’s movies, Star Trek: Into Darkness, JJ gave the impression that Williams (who scored the original Star Wars movie) might well be back in the fold for his forthcoming sequel.

“Again, for 'Star Wars,' it's very early days, but I believe that, going forward, John Williams will be doing that film because he was there long before I was,” says the director. He also drew parallels between Star Wars and Star Trek (beyond the obvious sci-fi genre), telling reporters “Though I came at these both from very different places, where they both meet is a place of 'Ooh, that's really exciting.' And even though I was never a 'Star Trek' fan, I felt like there was a version of it that would make me excited, that I would think 'That's cool, that feels right, I actually would want to see that.’”

So far, it’s unclear which elements of the original Star Wars Abrams is likely to keep hold of and what he will alter, in order to achieve that vision but what we do know is that we’ll have to wait until summer 2015 to find out.
