With Jj Abrams now confirmed as director for the forthcoming new trilogy of Star Wars films, a statement has been posted on the franchise’s official site to announce that plans to turn Episodes II and III 3D have been postponed indefinitely, with all hands being placed on the tiller ahead of the new project instead.
We can’t imagine that too many people will be too fussed that Attack Of The Clones and Revenge Of The Sith won’t be turning 3D anytime soon, but then we’re not obsessive Star Wars fans so it may well be there’ll be some gutted people out there. The statement on the website reads: “Lucasfilm has decided to postpone this fall's scheduled release of Star Wars Episodes II and III in 3D. Given the recent development that we are moving forward with a new Star Wars trilogy, we will now focus 100 percent of our efforts on Star Wars: Episode VII in order to ensure the best possible experience for our fans. We will post further information about our 3D release plans at a later date.”
JJ Abrams recent confirmation as director for the new Disney-produced trilogy will come as a sigh of relief to the company after several high profile names distanced themselves from anything to do with the role. We don’t blame them either, the pressure’s going to be immense.
