Like all 8 Harry Potter movies – the biggest British film franchise of all time – the upcoming spin-off, ‘Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them’, will be filmed in the U.K.

Production will take place at the Warner Bros complex in Hertfordshire, where all the original, record-breaking Harry Potter films were made. Although, like the original films, some on-location filming is expected to take place.

It’s the first real piece of information to come out on Fantastic Beast; so far we only know the identity of the film’s main character: Newt Scamander, the young wizard who eventually becomes a famous magizoologist, and the author of the Hogwarts textbook the film takes its title from.

But we expect to hear more about the film, like cast members, a director, soon, now that the film has a location. We do know that Warner Bros. is looking to make it into a film trilogy of its own, with the first film set to hit theaters in November 2016.

JK Rowling explained of the spin-off back when it was announced: “Newt's story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry's gets underway. I always said that I would only revisit the wizarding world if I had an idea that I was really excited about and this is it.” Producer David Heyman added that the project is already looking "great”, teasing: “It's going to be very, very special".

Some have argued that Rowling is guilty of The Hobbit’s primary failure: attempting to squeeze three films out of a single, small tome. But, with the sheer force of Harry Potter fans, the trilogy will be a financial success in spite of any critical reaction.
