Law Firm Responsible for "The Cuckoo's Calling" Reveal To Make Charity Donation As Reimbursement To J.K.Rowling

J. K. Rowling has reportedly been reimbursed by the lawfirm responsible for leaking her identity as the author behind the crime novel The Cuckoo’s Calling. After the book was revealed to be by Rowling, the author quickly began legal proceedings against Chris Gossage, an employee of the solicitors’ firm Russells, who was responsible for the original leak of information and against his friend Judith Callegari, who then released the information to the media over Twitter.

The author has settled for an apology and a donation to her pet cause.

Ms Rowling's solicitor Jenny Afia told the court her client, who was not present during proceedings, "has been left dismayed and distressed by such a fundamental betrayal of her trust". Sales of the book, which had been getting good reviews under Robert Galbraith’s name, spiked after the reveal, however Rowling claimed that she had wanted to keep it a secret a while longer.

Rowling was "dismayed and distressed" by the leak.

As far as the conflict between the law firm and Rowling herself, however, the matters seems to have been settled with an apology and a sizeable donation on the part of Russells to a favorite cause of Rowling’s – the Soldier’s Charity. They also agreed to cover the author’s legal fees by way of reimbursement. Gossage has also issued a personal apology to the author in a final act of damage control.

Both Russells and Gossage issued personal apologies.
