The 81 year-old's daughter gave an update on her current status.
It has been five days since Joan Rivers was hospitalized and put on life support after going into cardiac and respiratory arrest after she stopped breathing during a minor throat procedure, and her daughter Melissa, has given an update on her current status.
Rivers still remains on life support
"On behalf of my mother and our family, we are extremely grateful for all the love and support we've received," Melissa said. "At this time she does remain on life support. I know my mother would be overwhelmed by the continued outpouring of kindness and I want to thank everyone for keeping us in their prayers."
Shortly after the routine procedure went terribly wrong, Joan was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City and placed into a medically induced coma until a full examination was carried out. On Sunday (Aug 31st), it was reported that her doctors began the process of waking her to assess how damaged the 81 year-old's brain is.
Since news broke of the 'Fashion Police' co-host's health scare, there has been a huge outpouring of support from fans and celebrities alike, and Melissa expressed her appreciation for this in another statement on Friday (Aug 29th).
"My mother would be so touched by the tributes and prayers that we have received from around the world," she said. "Her condition remains serious but she is receiving the best treatment and care possible. We ask that you continue to keep her in your thoughts as we pray for her recovery."
Joan's family and close friends have not left her hospital bed ever since she was first admitted.
