Talk show host and comedienne Joan Rivers credits her unhappy school years with inspiring her hilarious stand-up routines.
The 72-year-old funnywoman admits she was a loner as a child but claims the experience gave her a unique take on the world.
She says, "There wasn't one good comedian I've known who was ever in the 'in' group at school. That's why we look at things so differently.
"Woody Allen was never going to be number one choice for the basketball team. Robin Williams was a total outcast.
"You never met a cheerleader or supermodel that could really make you laugh. When was the last time someone said to Tyra Banks, 'Oh stop it! You're killing me!'
"I don't think I'm wonderful. I couldn't be in this line of work if I did."
