Fact: Comedian David Spade reprised his redneck role Joe Dirt for the 2015 CMT Music Awards on Wednesday (10Jun15), as he crashed the Nashville prizegiving to join co-hosts Brittany Snow and Erin Andrews on stage. In character, Spade asked, "What's crappinin'? Is this the Grand Ole Opry? I thought I was getting a lifetime achievement award!" Spade's 2001 Joe Dirt film was a cult favourite, and in July (15), he returns to the role in a sequel, Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, premiering on website Crackle.

Fact: Funnyman David Spade has splashed out $900,000 (£563,000) on a fully-restored version of the 1969 Dodge Daytona his character Joe Dirt drives in the 2001 comedy. According to Tmz.com, Spade bid for the copper-coloured car at Mecum Auctions in Florida last week (ends25Jan15). The comedian is set to reprise the Dirt character for a sequel this year (15).

Fact: Funnyman David Spade is revamping his Joe Dirt character for a new TV cartoon series. Spade's 2001 movie was a box office flop, but the film has become a cult comedy on DVD, and now the comic is developing an animated series based on his creation.
