Joel McHale

It's been running for more than two decades but now comedy series 'The Soup' has got the axe from the E! Entertainment channel as host Joel McHale prepares to go into full time acting. Who's going to make fun of the world of reality TV now?

Originally called 'Talk Soup', this hilarious parody show is now gearing up for its final showing this December after 22 years, 12 of which were presented by 'Community' star Joel McHale. While it was called 'Talk Soup', it had a number of different presenters such as Greg Kinnear, John Henson, Hal Sparks, and Aisha Tyler.

Sony Leak: Joel McHale Asked For Discount On Sony TV

Joel McHale

The Sony leak has thrown up some pretty tasty titbits in recent days - most notably Scott Rudin ripping into Angelina Jolie and Marvel trying to enlist Spider-Man for Captain America 3: Civil War. However, now comes the funny, stupid stuff.

The fourth round of leaks came as the hackers, known as the Guardians of Peace, spilled Sony Pictures Television president Steve Mosko's emails all over the net. One interesting exchange related to the cult series Community getting cancelled on May 9 after five seasons on air. The show has since returned for a fresh series, though at the time, star Joel McHale was pretty angry. So angry that he wanted a discount on a massive Sony TV.

Yahoo!’s planned foray into long form digital content was met with some confusion when the appointed executive producers of the new projects Paul Feig (Bridesmaids) and Mike Tollin (Smallville) made the announcement at Digital Content NewFronts back in April. However, after a Community revival was announced as one of the first projects, viewers’ doubts seem to have been assuaged.

The deal was announced earlier this week, with creator Dan Harmon saying in a statement: . "I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo. I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online."

The Fourth (And Last?) Season Of Community Set To Hit The Airwaves!

Joel McHale Dan Harmon Chevy Chase

Cult comedy series Community returns to NBC this week and it's likely the eccentric students and staff of Greendale Community College will be enjoying their final season on screen. Network bosses are refusing to rule out a fifth series just yet, though industry insiders suggest season four will be the final bow.

A new trailer for season four hit the web this week and it certainly appears as though the cast are pulling out all the stops to go out with a bang! In the clip - which spoofs The Hunger Games - a foreboding voiceover announces "Experience the thrills, unravel the mystery, feel the chills, witness the redemption, share the hope, share the nostalgia, taste the tears, travel through time, forget the past, Community returns! Thursday's on NBC. Community! Thursday's 8pm, starting February 7th!" The promo also promises plenty of celebrity cameos, including Giancarlo Esposito returning as Pierce's half-brother, and a revisiting of much of last season's side-plots and incidents.

What Took You So Long? NBC Announces Community's Return

Joel McHale Eva Longoria Betty White

NBC has finally announced February 7, 2013 as the premiere date for the fourth season of Community. The college set comedy - a hit with viewers and critics alike - will air on its traditional home of Thursdays, in a slot currently occupied by the departing 30 Rock, reports Entertainment Weekly.

It marks a topsy-turvy history for the show's fourth season, which was due to premiere on October 19 though was postponed. NBC said it had decided to focus on promoting other nights of its schedule, with Whitney also getting the temporary axe (incidentally, that will now debut on November 14, 2012 in place of the now-cancelled Animal Practice). The announcement was part of NBC's new scheduling details, which includes return dates for Smash (February 5), and Revolution (March 25) as well as premiere dates for the Eva Longoria-produced reality series Ready for Love (March 31). It looks set to be another big year for reality shows, with The Voice's new season set to hit on March 25, The Biggest Loser being readied for January 6 and The Celebrity Apprentice to premiere on March 3. Betty White's Off Their Rockers will debut January 8.

Notably changes to timeslots include Parks and Recreation now airing at 8.30pm from 7.30pm, starting January 17, 2013.

College Comedy 'Community' Set To Return Next February

Joel McHale Dan Harmon Gillian Jacobs

Fans of the instant cult hit Community were distraught last month when the return of the show was put back indefinitely. In the largely uncertain world of television, many questioned whether the show would return at all. However, NBC has now confirmed that the comedy, set around a mishmash of students in a community college, will be returning to its regular Thursday time slot next February. It was created by Dan Harmon and stars Joel McHale and Gillian Jacobs.

Fingers crossed this second start date for the fourth season wont be pulled as it was from its original October start date. Its slot on Thursdays will be replacing 30 Rock, which, by then, will have ended its final series. Sob. The first episode will air on February 7th, the news of which comes amid news about plenty of other new and returning comedies. As HitFix says 1600 Penn will be premiering in january- a new comedy set in the White House and starring Bill Pullman, Jenna Elfman and Josh Gad. Plus, 'Up All Night' which is currently airing will be cut midseason and returning having been revamped and 'redveloped as a multi-camera comedy'. Time will tell if those changes will help it succeed.

The Office spinoff 'The Farm' has this week been cancelled, but The X-Factor, Arrow and Homelands have all been set for renewal.

Ted Review

Very Good
Plying his trade in pop culture references and surprising punchlines, MacFarlane jumps the adult-oriented comedy bandwagon with a film that's smarter and funnier than most. It also has a surprisingly warm and serious thematic undercurrent.

After a childhood wish brought his teddy bear to life, John (Wahlberg) has become inseparable with his buddy Ted (voiced by Macfarlane). But John's girlfriend Lori (Kunis) is starting to think that a 35-year-old man and his fluffy pal should stop living like stoner-slackers. Worried about the foul-mouthed, womanising Ted's influence, she encourages John to make his own way in life, so they can be a proper couple. But separating Ted and John is more difficult than it looks.

The Big Year Review

OK
Even though it's rather corny and sentimental, this colourful comedy-drama holds our interest mainly because it's about a subject we'd never imagine watching a film about.

Brad (Black) is a birdwatcher who decides to do a Big Year, seeing as many birds as possible in 12 months, while holding down a full-time job and borrowing against his credit cards. Jetting around the country for rare spottings, he comes up against his record-holding nemesis Kenny (Wilson) as well as Stu (Martin), a corporate big-wig who has taken a year off work to follow his dream. But will their obsession with birding cause problems in their private lives?

Lords Of Dogtown Review

Weak
"Lords of Dogtown" is a fictionalized accountof the birth of modern skateboarding that doesn't have half the spontaneityand maverick spirit of the vivid, kinetic, crowd-pleasing documentary thatinspired it.

2002's "Dogtownand Z-Boys" (now available in an excellentDVD) was an adrenaline-rush history of the Zephyr Skateboarding Team, adaredevil band of teenage surf bums who were the first to take wave-ridingmoves to the streets and empty swimming pools of drought-stricken SantaMonica in the early 1970s.

This handful of young turks (oneof whom became the director of that film andthe writer of this one) invented the board-gripping, back-scratching, wall-climbingstyle that launched the entire rebel culture of extreme sports -- but youwouldn't know it from "Lords of Dogtown," which concerns itselfmore with fabricated love triangles, unhappy home lives and rivalries thatformed when fame came calling.

While the performances of the young cast members -- keyZ-Boys are played by John Robinson from "Elephant,"Emile Hirsch from "TheGirl Next Door" and Victor Rasuk from "RaisingVictor Vargas" -- are multifaceted, they sometimes have the under-rehearsedfeel of a bawdier after-school special. Or maybe that's just the clumsyexpository dialogue: "Hey, I think we should start a skateboard team, man," says one shirtless, long-haired dude to another. "There'smoney in this!"
