The WWE Superstar may be heading to the small screen in an exciting new role...
We've known that Damon Lindelof has been adapting critically-acclaimed graphic novel 'Watchmen' for the small screen at HBO for some time now, but information regarding exactly who will be starring and when the show will eventually debut has been scarce. This weekend however, that may all have changed.
WWE Superstar John Cena is a household name for many
WWE Superstar John Cena is without a doubt one of the company's most iconic figures. Already expanding his working horizons to big movie features and even the world of reality television, he's somebody that's a household name across the world, and now it seems he's got his eyes on an exciting new prospect.
Taking to his Instagram account, Cena posted not one, but two different graphics relating to 'Watchmen', with the second of fan-favourite character Dr. Manhattan. That's led many to believe that he could be joining Lindelof's series in the leading role. You can see his posts below:
If Cena did take on this role, it would be hugely different to anything we've ever seen him tackle in the past. He's remained largely a part of comedic pictures, aside from the odd action movie such as recently-released flick 'The Wall', in which he starred alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson. 'Watchmen' would be completely different to any of that, but when an actor like Cena is hungry for success, there's every possibility that he could blow his competition out of the water and claim the role for himself.
Of course, there's always the possibility that Cena is throwing out a pitch to take on the role, rather than hinting at a pending announcement! Looking at the graphic in the second Instagram post of Dr. Manhattan, it's hard to argue that he wouldn't fit the role, at least aesthetically, to a tee!
We'll be keeping our eyes open and ears sharp for more information regarding this one. We're not completely sold yet, but hopefully Lindelof, HBO and everybody else working on the show will be more forthcoming with details in the near future!
