John Lloyd Young, who played Franki Valli in the Broadway production of 'Jersey Boys' for years before landing the film role, claims he wasn't nervous by director Clint Eastwood's presence in the crowd.
John Lloyd Young wasn't nervous meeting Clint Eastwood for the first time.
The 38-year-old actor plays The Four Seasons' frontman Franki Valli in the upcoming film adaptation of the play 'Jersey Boys', but he claims he wasn't nervous meeting Eastwood - who helmed the project - because he'd played the character hundreds of times before on Broadway.
Speaking about performing the play with Eastwood in the audience, Young told Collider: ''At that point I had probably done the role about 1200 times over the years. It was my domain, Broadway was my domain, I knew that I was good in this role, that this was something I'd done a lot of times.
''You could think that maybe I'd be nervous that he was there, especially knowing that he'd be directing the movie, but I was just so proud to be able show Clint my best work.''
'Jersey Boys' tells the story of Franki Valli and The Four Seasons and chronicles their rise to fame in the 1960s with hit songs such as 'Walk Like a Man' and 'Big Girls Don't Cry' and the subsequent troubles that came with their success.
Eastwood - who is known for his roles in films such as 'The Good, The Bad and The Ugly' and 'Gran Torino' - claims The Four Seasons were far from being poster boys and describes them as a group of ''juvenile delinquents''.
'Jersey Boys' is out in cinemas worldwide today (20.06.14).
