Punk legend John Lydon has blasted British rockers the Arctic Monkeys - insisting they are a "showbiz construct".
The Fluorescent Adolescent hitmakers shot to fame in their native U.K. after building up a massive following by giving away their music for free on MySpace.com.
But Sex Pistols frontman Lydon is adamant they are not a proper band because there is no "soul-searching" in their music.
He says, "That's not a band. That's a showbiz construct. A mockery. (Frontman) Alex Turner just turns on the computer and types in 'punk' and it goes 'ping'. I see no gut-wrenching soul-searching going on there."
