Remember The Oscars? They were about 7 years ago and the 2015 ceremony is basically tomorrow. If you watched Ellen DeGeneres host this year’s, though, or you have a passing interest in awards season – OR you have an internet connection at work or at home – you probably won’t have missed John Travolta’s mispronunciation of Idina Menzel, calling her ‘Adele Dazeem.’

John TravoltaJohn Travolta has dealt with his silly mistake

It was so, so funny. Not just because he got her name wrong, that’s just a funny thing for any celeb to do. It was John Travolta. He got the name really wrong. And he had to call Menzel “wickedly funny” before getting her name really wrong. Now, though, it’s probably time to stop laughing at poor John, because he tried, and he’s been really nice since.

"He [Travolta] was really gracious and sent this gorgeous email, and we're buddies and it's all cool." Menzel explained to Billboard, adding that being introduced by the wrong name did throw her initially, but she then grew from that and it ended up benefiting her. "That threw me for a minute, but then I just got back on track and reminded myself of where I was... I mean, I've only benefited from it."

Not long after the awards show, Travolta released a statement about the embarrassing mistake, saying: "I've been beating myself up all day. Then I thought, what would Idina Menzel say? She'd say, 'Let it go, let it go!' Idina is incredible talented and I am so happy Frozen took home two Oscars Sunday night!"

The mishap lead to an internet craze, albeit for a few days. There was even a website giving people the chance to have their name ‘said’ by Travolta. And even though we’ve suggested drawing a line under the whole affair, it’s stull fun to type names in and see what comes up.
