Johnny Depp's daughter Lily Rose Depp thinks he is ''way too protective.''

The 16-year-old aspiring actress is reportedly turning to her mother, French singer Vanessa Paradis, for career advice because she is more supportive of her following in their footsteps.

A source said: ''Vanessa is more encouraging of her wild, artistic side, and she already has a major studio in love with Lily. ''

But 'Pirates of the Caribbean' star Johnny isn't upset, as he is currently very busy juggling his own career and marriage to Amber Heard.

The insider told US OK! magazine: ''[Johnny] will be there to help out, but he's happy to for Vanessa to take charge.''

Lily-Rose, who was born in Paris, recently completed shooting 'Yoga Hosers' alongside her father, and recently signed on to appear in the upcoming film 'Planetarium'.

It was also announced she will star in comedy 'Moose Jaws' next year.

Johnny, who also has 13-year-old son Jack with Vanessa, previously admitted he didn't want either of his children to become actors.

Speaking in 2009, he said: ''One thing is certain -- neither of them will ever get bored,'' he said. ''I always show them my various costumes and they love it. My children seem to take my job for granted.

''But I honestly hope that Lily-Rose and Jack don't want to become actors -- that's my greatest fear!''
