A new trailer for The Lone Ranger reveals a little more of what everybody wanted to see; Johnny Depp as Tonto. Where the first trailer gave an overview of the movie, this latest promo features on the relationship between Tonto (Depp) and The Lone Ranger (played by Armie Hammer). Depp in comic mode is always a joy to behold, even if his comic characters all seem to have merged into a variation on a theme these days.

There’s one scene where the horse is up a tree and Depp, in a deadpan voice, delivers the line “There's something very wrong with that horse,” not long after he’s seen explaining to the Lone Ranger “Eight men rode into canyon. I dug seven graves. Horse says you are a spirit walker, a man who has been to the other side and returned - a man who cannot be killed in battle." If the movie is peppered with comic moments such as this, director Gore Verbinski could have a real treat on his hands here. Let’s just hope he’s not been too reliant on Depp’s screen charms though; too much and it could be overkill.

Speaking about his two central characters, Verbinski said “I have always been intrigued by characters who exist at times of monumental change. They are somehow cast against the events that engulf them and magnified. The Lone Ranger is a story of two outcasts bonded by adversity at a time when the lines between right and wrong have become blurred. With no well defined beacons to aid them, and no tribe to return to, they are a glorious pair of misfits: A band apart." The Lone Ranger isn’t out until summer 2013 but anticipation for the movie is already mounting.
