Screen International is in agreement, and think The Lone Ranger should continue to ride alone. “The film has plenty of combustion, but it's almost entirely devoid of charm or genuine excitement,” they say, while HitFix say “Someone needs to drag this thing out behind the barn and put a silver bullet in its brain. While we wait for the ‘major players’ in the world of critics to weigh in, The Lone Ranger’s rating stands at a lowly 25% on review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes. “Since it's impossible to simultaneously sacrifice and worship a sacred cow, The Lone Ranger feels schizophrenic, a state of affairs that would be forgivable if it delivered as a comedy or Western or even as an brainless piece of summer entertainment,” says The Wrap.
