Rocker Jon Bon Jovi has rushed back to comfort his distraught family in New York after hurricane Sandy.

The Bon Jovi star - who attended the Pride of Britain Awards on Monday night (29.10.12) - has cut short his UK publicity tour and boarded a private jet to return to his wife Dorothea and their four children after their $24 million home was badly damaged in the terrifying storm leaving them stranded without power.

A source close to the 50-year-old singer told the Daily Mirror newspaper: ''He was really incredibly anxious for his family who were stuck in New York in an apartment and was desperate to be reunited with them.

''The family house in New Jersey was also hit quite badly and he needs to go back to assess the damage and what can be salvaged.

''He has loved his time in the UK and was here for a while yet but his family must take priority. t's been a deeply upsetting time.''

Jon - whose New Jersey based charity restaurant Soul Kitchen was also damaged in the storm - also told the MailOnline: ''I am committed to my Soul Foundation and Soul Kitchen Restaurant which a lot of people rely on for their food. I need to find a generator and get that working.

''What can I do, I have to get there and find out. We take care of each other, that's what we do in our town.''

The rocker was in London to promote his band's European tour next summer. The 'Livin' On A Prayer' rockers have decided to make seats for their upcoming concerts affordable to all their fans and will charge just £12.50 for the cheapest tickets.
