Actor Jon Cryer Missed Out On A Lucrative Leading Role In Iconic U.s. Sitcom Friends When His Audition Tape Was Impounded By Customs Officers.
The Two and a Half Men star wanted the part of Chandler Bing in the 1990s TV hit but he was performing in London when the tryouts were taking place so he arranged with producers to audition via videotape.
Cryer posted the footage back to the Friends crew in the U.S., but it was seized as a suspicious package and never made it through customs.
However, Cryer is convinced he would not have landed the role anyway because the successful applicant, Matthew Perry, was perfect as Bing.
He tells U.S. TV show Watch What Happens: Live, "Matthew Perry's amazing in that show. I wouldn't have gotten it even if it had gotten through. I was in London doing a play and I taped in London and they sent it and it got stuck in customs."
