Jon Stewart will still wear make-up ''every day'' once he leaves 'The Daily Show'.

The 52-year-old satirist announced earlier this year that he's quitting the late night talk show and will be replaced by Trevor Noah in August and he's now joked that while he's looking forward to mixing up his routine, he still wants to look his best.

Asked how long he's known he was leaving, he said: ''I told the network in late November, and we had to wait for a variety of reasons. Eventually I was able to tell the crew, but I knew once we did it would get out, so I told them the afternoon of the announcement.

''They're the part that I'll miss the most. I won't miss being on television. I'll still wear make-up every day - at about 6pm I'll throw on a suit and some make-up and go meet the kids for dinner in my Florida retirement community.''

The comedian also can't wait to spend more time with his wife Tracey Lyn McShane and their children, Nathan, 11, and nine-year-old Maggie, but is worried that once they get to know him better they won't like him as much.

He joked to ShortList magazine: ''More time with my family will be tremendous. I can't wait for them to hate me more - I only seem so nice in small doses. When I'm having dinner with them I stay in my suit behind the desk. We'll have an appetiser then I throw to commercial.''
