Jonathan Liebesman is in talks to direct the new 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie.

The filmmaker - who is currently finishing off production on fantasy sequel 'Wrath of the Titans' - has opened negotiations with Paramount to helm the reboot of the children's franchise.

Although based on the TV cartoon series, the film will be live action just like the 1990 movie which was released at the height of the characters' popularity.

The Script is being penned by 'M:I4' writers Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec, while Michael Bay - who is responsible for the 'Transformers' series and 'Bad Boys' - will be producing the project.

Liebesman's other films include 'Battle: Los Angeles', 'The Killing Room' and 'The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning'.

'Wrath of he Titans' - the sequel to 'Clash of the Titans' - opens in March and sees Sam Worthington return as mythical Greek hero Perseus, the demigod son of Zeus.

A third film in the series has already been given the green light by Warner Bros. and screenwriters Dan Mazeau and David Leslie are working on the script.
