Singer-songwriter Josh Groban and his actress girlfriend Kat Dennings have split up after nearly two years of dating, it has been reported.

“It was a mutual breakup,” a source told E! News on Monday (August 1st). “They are still friends and care about each other, but it's not the right time for them now as a couple.”

35 year old Groban, an internationally successful singer, and 30 year old Dennings, the star of CBS’ successful comedy ‘2 Broke Girls’ alongside Beth Behrs, made their relationship official in October 2014 when they stepped out as a couple on the red carpet at the Beverly Hills Carousel of Hope ball.

Reportedly, it was there that Dennings heard him sing for the first time. “They were so cute together!” an attendee of the party said at the time. “They were adorable on the carpet. She was whispering in his ear a lot and they seemed really happy.”

“She's such a brilliant and funny person,” Groban told Ellen DeGeneres in early 2015, soon after they made their relationship official. “Humor is such a huge thing for me, so the fact that we could talk about 'Monty Python' and all sorts of weird other things, I was like, 'OK, yeah, we're on the same page.'”

Soon after that, Dennings also appeared on DeGeneres’ show and enthused about her now ex-boyfriend. “Obviously you know how talented and amazing [Groban] is… but what you may not know is that he's one of those people who can sit at a piano and play anything, anything off the top of his [head]… he's just, he's just a genius.”

Meanwhile, her co-star Behrs – who had introduced to her to Groban - announced her engagement to her boyfriend of six years, Michael Gladis, earlier this month. She and Dennings will be returning to ‘2 Broke Girls’ for its sixth season later in 2016.
