Marvel have confirmed that the sequel to their astronomically successful Avengers film, ‘Age of Ultron’, will hit UK shores before The US gets its hands on it.

“Avengers #AgeOfUltron UK & IRE release moves forward to April 24 2015 - #ONEYEAR to go!,” read the Tweet, exactly one year before Brits will be able to catch the ensemble superhero performance. 

This is probably one of the most anticipated sequels in movie history, considering the sheer financial muscle of the first, and the subsequent – and often brilliant – superhero movies that have prospered in the 2012 movie’s wake. 

The Avengers smashed the $1b mark worldwide, posting an overall global box office of $1.5b. This put it third in the all time movie grossing list only behind James Cameron’s ‘Avatar’ and ‘Titanic”. With such a strong following, ‘Age of Ultron’ is predicted to shuffle that top three into a different order. 

In other Avengers news, director Joss Whedon has recently opened up on the titular villain of the sequel, Ultron, explaining just how much fun he’s having with the character.

"I'm having a blast with Ultron," he told Empire. "He's not a creature of logic — he's a robot who's genuinely disturbed. We're finding out what makes him menacing and at the same time endearing and funny and strange and unexpected, and everything a robot never is."

Ultron brings the villain count to 4, and with a whole year to go, more might yet be revealed. But Whedon dismissed the idea that he’s shoehorning "I fiercely dislike the idea of just throwing in more people for the sake of doing that," he stressed. "But last time I had all of Earth's Mightiest Heroes versus one British character actor, and I needed more conflict.”
