The Don't Stop Believin' hitmakers were the headliners at the annual event, which raises money for the Los Angeles Philharmonic's education and outreach programmes.

The band's appearance, along with their induction into the iconic venue's Hall of Fame, helped rake in an impressive amount for the organisation - beating the previous record of $1.4 million (£875,000) set by inductees Harry Connick, Jr. and Gloria Estefan in 2011.

The gig also marked Journey's first gig without drummer Deen Castronovo, who was arrested and charged with fourth-degree assault and menacing after allegedly fighting with a woman in Salem, Oregon last week (14Jun15).

Drummer Omar Hakim has been drafted in to replace Castronovo for a series of summer gigs while the band's drummer tackles his legal woes.
