Julia Roberts is currently in negotiations to play the 'Evil Queen' in a forthcoming Snow White adaptation.
JULIA ROBERTS, the 43-year-old OSCAR winning actress, is in talks to play the 'Evil Queen' in TASEM SINGH's movie 'The Brothers Grimm: Snow White', according to the New York Magazine. The news comes just days after it was reported that Kristen Stewart was in line to land the lead role in 'Snow White and the Huntsman', a different adaptation by RUPERT SANDERS. Roberts is yet to commit to the project, however, she has been in talks for several weeks and could be confirmed as a cast member in the near future. Although little is known about the movie, producer Brett Ratner has confirmed that it will be shot in 3-D and will veer from the traditional 'Disney' version of the fairytale, instead adopting a darker tone. Speaking to MTV News in 2010, Ratner said, "It's a classic story. You know, Walt Disney made the best movie ever made, so it's not easy. But it's a fantastic script- we go back to the original folklore. The original source material is much edgier". It is not yet known who movie bosses are looking to approach to play the eponymous 'Snow White' although speculation recently arose that that Julia's niece Emma Roberts could be on a list of possibilities.
'The Brothers Grimm: Snow White' is currently scheduled for release in 2012, before which Roberts will star alongside Tom Hanks in the comedy-drama 'Larry Crowne', about a middle-aged man who reinvents himself by going back to college
