'Tyranny' is the first release from Casablancas' new band

The new release will be out on Casablancas' own label Cult Records, which he set up back in 2009 for his solo debut 'Phrazes for the Young' and which has since signed the likes of  Har Mar Superstar, Karen O, Albert Hammond Jr., and Cerebral Ballzy. Featuring Casablancas on vocals,  Jeramy Gritter and Amir Yaghmai on guitar, Jeff Kite on keyboards, Jake Bercovici on bass and Alex Carapetis on drums, the band have been recording since their 2013 formation releasing the acclaimed single 'Human Sadness' earlier this year and a Gritter directed video for the song 'Where No Eagles Fly'.

''Tyranny' has come in many forms throughout history', says Casablancas while discussing the meaning behind his latest venture. 'Most decisions seem to be made like ones of a medieval king; whatever makes profit while ignoring and repressing the truth about whatever suffering it may cause.' Produced by Shawn Everett (of Weezer's 2010 release 'Hurley'), the album will be available on cassette and vinyl for all the old-school lovers, as well as the usual digital and CD.Adding a unique spin on their promotional journey for 'Tyranny', Julian Casablancas + The Voidz have also made available a limited edition lighter sleeve which can be bought in three colours and contains a built-in USB flash drive with the full album.

All confirmed dates are below with many more yet to be announced.

'Tyranny' will be released in the US and Canada on September 23rd 2014 (September 26th in Australia and October 13th in the UK and Europe).
