‘Connection Lost’ examines how families now interact with each other through the internet.

‘Modern Family’ are set for a groundbreaking episode later this month, which will examine the way families now interact with each other through social media, their mobile phones and computers. The episode, entitled ‘Connection Lost’, was shot entirely using iPhones, iPads and MacBook Pros and took just two days to film, but over a month to plan and design.

'Connection Lost' will focus on Julie Bowen's character Claire

The episode concerns Claire (Julie Bowen), who, when away on a business trip, becomes concerned about her daughter Haley's (Sarah Hyland) whereabouts. Claire then spends the entire episode frantically using Facetime, Facebook and the Web while waiting in an airport terminal, talking to other family members and trying to track down Haley.

'Modern Family' actress Sarah Hyland has been granted a permanent restraining order against her allegedly abusive ex-boyfriend.

Sarah Hyland, the actress best known for playing Haley Dunphy in Modern Family, has been granted a permanent restraining order against her ex-boyfriend, actor Matthew Prokop.

Planes: Fire & Rescue Review

Despite the fact that this too-soon spin-off feels like a mere cash-in on the Disney Cars/Planes marketing machine, this sequel is actually a lot more fun than expected. Not only is the animation witty and sometimes even exhilarating, but there are some solid messages in the story. On the other hand, there's also the continuing problem of making movies in which the central characters are inanimate objects with cute faces drawn on them. But never mind: see the movies, buy the toys, keep the kids happy!

After the globe-hopping race in 2013's Planes, the new champ Dusty (voiced by Dane Cook) sees his new celebrity career grounded when he develops a problem in his gearbox. He can still fly, but the torque required for racing stunts could do him in. So he decides to retrain as an aerial firefighter to help his local airfield maintain its certification in time for the annual Corn Festival. In training, he is mentored by veteran chopper Blade (Ed Harris), working alongside his starstruck fan Dipper (Julie Bowen), the noble Windlifter (Wes Studi), the sassy Dynamite (Regina King) and the genius mechanic Maru (Curtis Armstrong). But a raging wildfire is threatening the nearby Fusel Lodge, and the local park superintendent (John Michael Higgins) doesn't want to shut it down with so many stars as guests.

The best touch here is to make Dusty utterly full of himself, never listening to any advice before charging in unprepared for the next challenge. It's predictable and underdeveloped, but it makes this chirpy crop-duster far more interesting, and adds some unexpected diversions in a plot that otherwise heads exactly where it has to go. Meanwhile, the screenwriters pack the dialog with witty puns and some snappy verbal and visual gags that allow the actors to give their vehicles a bit of personality, even if some of this is merely ethnic stereotyping or simplistic hero/villain morality.

Meet the 'Modern Family' cast that the producers had originally wanted. We're pleased they didn't get their own way, because we can't imagine a better lineup than the one they have!

We can’t imagine a more perfect cast that the one that Modern Family already has. Every single of one of them has made the roles their own, almost like they were written with them in mind. So you’ll be surprised to hear that hardly any of them were the first choice for the parts! But who did the producers have lined up before the perfect cast finally came together?

Modern Family Alternate Cast Craig T. Nelson was first choice to play Modern Family patriarch Jay Pritchett

Family patriarch Jay Pritchett was originally pegged to be played by Emmy Award winner Craig T. Nelson. Best known for his role as Hayden Fox in Coach and as the voice of Mr. Incredible in the 2004 animated film The Incredibles, producers originally approached Nelson although his pay expectations were too high. Ed O’Neill, who the role eventually went to (and who just IS Jay) explained, “When I read [the script] I thought, ‘Oh boy, this is pretty good.’ And I called my managed and he said, ‘Well, they’re out to Craig T. Nelson.’” We’re grateful that they couldn’t afford Nelson because no-one plays grumpy good guy Jay Pritchard quite like Ed O’Neill. We're also sure that Nelson is kicking himself since Sofia Vergara could have been his onscreen wife! We wonder if he'd known that to begin with it would have made a difference?

Modern Family Season 5 finale saw Mitchell and Cam tie the knot! The couple have been desperately trying to compromise on wedding decorations and guests for the last few episodes with the budget becoming an issue. However, they finally managed to make it official after four venue changes, a ruined dress and another nearly ruined marriage!

Former cropduster plane turned racing sensation Dusty Crophopper overcame his crippling fear of heights during the events of 'Planes', but he's about to show even stronger feats of bravery in his latest escapades. Discovering that some serious damage has been done to his engine, he sadly contemplates that he may have to abandon his racing dreams. Instead, he decides on a new path: aerial firefighting. This time he teams up with Blade Ranger, a long-serving fire and rescue helicopter who's currently recruiting several crafts to take on a big job in the forest as a brutal wildfire sweeps the trees. Joining him is a group of fearless ground vehicles called The Smokejumpers, and together they work to save lives in what could be the most heroic venture of their lives. Jesse Tyler Ferguson married Justin Mikita on Saturday (21st July). The ceremony took place in New York and was attended by Ferguson's 'Modern Family' co-stars and his fellow 'So You Think You Can Dance' judges.

Jesse Tyler Ferguson married Justin Mikita in New York yesterday (Saturday 21st July). The couple announced their engagement in September last year whilst on holiday in Mexico. The couple have been together for three years.

Ferguson plays Mitchell Pritchett on ABC's Modern Family. His character is a lawyer on the show and his new husband is really a lawyer! The couple reside in California but had to marry in New York because, as Ferguson said on The View last month, "that's where it's legal".

An American Werewolf In Paris Review

Rather limp updating of John Landis's classic horror/comedy An American Werewolf in London, Scott and Delpy just don't muster a lot of enthusiasm for the material. By skewing this toward a teen audience, the comedy is lost (for plot summary, see title of film). The action is dull and predictable, and the digital werewolves look awfully phony. Good for a little goofy fun, but that's about it.
