Nearly two weeks later and the 20-year-old singer's new attitude maybe here to stay. During a surprise appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Thursday, Feb. 5, Bieber reflected on his general bad behaviour, and also discussed the much-talked about apology clip.

The video, posted on Facebook, was uploaded shortly after Bieber stopped by Ellen's show for her birthday, so when he returned on Thursday, the host asked the controversial star to explain why he chose to record the emotional clip.

"It was the first time I was on television for a long time and I just was worried about what people were thinking about me," he explained. "I did a lot of things over the past few years that I'm not proud of... I was just nervous to be in front of people again and talk in front of them... I thought I just looked really extra nervous and I kinda just wanted to explain myself."

Bieber has had several run-ins with the law in recent years, which including a DUI arrest, Vandalism charges and assault charges.

"I am a human, right?" he continued. "People often forget that, even with some of their comments and stuff they think it doesn't get to me. But it gets to me. You know, things that people say bother me and I gotta be strong enough to just keep it pushing."

As well as having legal trouble, Bieber's reputation as been a squeaky-clean teen star was definitely lost after he developed a hard-partying lifestyle. "I just wanted to make the video to just let people know that I'm human, I love people, I love love, I'm passionate about things, and I'm passionate about being better and growing," he added. "I think that this is going to be an awesome chapter in my life and I'm so glad that I have you guys supporting me."
