A man has reportedly spent $100,000 in a five year effort to emulate the look of 20 year-old pop star, Justin Bieber. 33 year-old Toby Sheldon, a Los Angeles songwriter, became so fixated with Bieber's youthful image that he spent a sizeable fortune paying to have his look surgically altered.

This Isn't Toby Sheldon: The Surgery Wasn't That Effective.

Many fans spend time and money trying to get a celebrity's look via clothing, make-up or hairstyles but few become so transfixed that they fork out thousands to have their facial structure altered. Justin Bieber's look is defined by his carefully sculpted hair, his heavy eyebrows, tanned skin and distinctive lips. Sheldon took a photo of the 'Baby' singer to a plastic surgeon and began a process that took five years until he was more happy with his transformation.

"It took three transplants and a total of $21,000 to accurately lower my hair line, close off my temples and grow back my bangs," he says, via The Daily Mail. After his hair had been altered to resemble Bieber's, Sheldon began surgery on his face where he had filler injected into his cheeks and lips to give him the plumper features associated with youth.

Next, he had Botox injections in his forehead and temples and paid for $4,850 worth of eye surgery to lift his upper eyelids; the latter of which proved difficult to secure a surgeon. "It took going to eight different surgeons before anyone would agree to operate on me as everyone thought I was crazy to be obsessing over such a tiny detail," he says.

The finishing touches came from intense mouth surgery to give him a permanent smile thorugh lifting of his upper lip and turning up of the corners of his mouth. However, Sheldon reveals that there is more to be done if he wants to finalise his transformation. "I know there is more work to be done in order to make a full transformation into Justin Bieber's doppelganger like a nose job and jaw reduction, which my surgeon has suggested," he said.

It may be easy to poke fun at Mr. Sheldon but his obsession with transformation is rooted in what could be classed as psychological affliction. He admits that it is his fear of aging that has driven him to so recklessly pursue the image of the ideal look that Bieber represents. He explains that his obsession began when his hair began thinning at the age of 23 and had treatments worth $8,000 for the reversal.

Though many are describing Sheldon as the ultimate Bieber fan, the 33 year-old explained that it wasn't Bieber's music that gave him the inclination to seek change, rather he saw Bieber as having the perfect look. He said "I didn't necessarily listen to his music or fawn over him as a celebrity, but his face was just so flawless every change I made was modeled after him."

Though Sheldon may have not reached the apex of his desired look, he's content with his transformation so far: "Between our similar hairstyles, baby faced smile and overall youthful appearance I finally look like Justin Bieber and I couldn't be happier about it," he said.
