Justin Bieber's ''relationship with God has been the coolest thing''.

The 21-year-old popstar insists he is ''not religious'' but revealed he has enjoyed forging a relationship with God recently because he feels like it has helped him stay positive.

He wrote on Instagram: ''Vindicate me, my god, and plead my cause against an unfaithful nation. Rescue me from those who are deceitful and wicked. - Psalms 43''

Commenting on the religious passage, he continued: ''I'm not religious nor do i think I have ANYTHING figured out that's why I call out on God to help me through what I can't do on my own. Developing my relationship with God has been the coolest thing I've experienced, to know that I'm not alone and I don't have to live in fear. (sic)''

The 'Boyfriend' hitmaker continued to say although he was gushing about his own experience with God, he didn't want his 28.4 million Instagram followers to feel like he was ''pushing'' the faith onto them.

He added: ''Never feel like I'm pushing anything on u but sharing the good news I've felt in my own life.''

The statement indicates a change of heart for the chart-topping star who was baptised last summer, and who has previously said he prays ''two to three times a day''.

Speaking about his faith back in 2010, he said: ''I pray two to three times a day. When I wake up I thank him for my blessings. I thank him for putting me in this position. And at the end of the day I get out my Bible. At home-school my tutor is Christian, so we go over Bible verses. It's something that keeps me grounded.''
