Justin Bieber gets a lot of criticism for the way he acts around fans during scheduled meet and greet sessions ahead of shows. He's accused of being listless, unsmiling and not at all sociable and so it'll come to no surprise to anyone that he's decided to axe these meet and greets altogether.

It's a noble decision, given the sheer amount of money people fork out to see him up close and personal, only to find a pop icon totally not in the mood for mingling with his supporters. And it seems it's not because he doesn't love his fans, its because the pressure of coming across a certain way is just too much of a burden to bear.

Trying to become an adult while facing ridicule from your peers, god-like adoration from your fans and suffocation from the media and paparazzi can't be easy, and so Bieber has made a move to combat some of his anxieties. 'I'm going to be canceling my meet and greets', he said in an Instagram post featuring him hugging a young fan but not looking at the camera. 'I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.

Love u guys.. I'm going to be canceling my meet and greets. I enjoy meeting such incredible people but I end up feeling so drained and filled with so much of other people's spiritual energy that I end up so drained and unhappy.. Want to make people smile and happy but not at my expense and I always leave feeling mentally and emotionally exhausted to the point of depression .. The pressure of meeting people's expectations of what I'm supposed to be is so much for me to handle and a lot on my shoulders. Never want to disappoint but I feel I would rather give you guys the show and my albums as promised. Can't tell you how sorry I am, and wish it wasn't so hard on me.. And I want to stay in the healthy mindset I'm in to give you the best show you have ever seen ;)

However, this isn't the same reason his representatives gave for the cancellation. They claimed that it was actually a security incident that has forced them to come up with new VIP packages. 'During a recent show, there was a security incident that caused our team to have to meet and re-think how meet and greets were handled', they said in a statement. 'We are letting everyone affected know, are offering refunds, and are also offering the alternative VIP hangout where both pics and videos can be taken of Justin, just no longer a group pic with him.'

The tour in question is in support of his latest album 'Purpose' which he released to the top of the charts back in November 2015.
