Justin Bieber has been updating his Twitter of the past couple of weeks with little teasers hinting at some new material. After  waiting some time, the Canadian singer has made his latest track, 'Heartbreaker,' available to download through iTunes as he also kicks off his Music Mondays promotion with the release of the new song.

The Music Mondays campaign is being run by Justin to release 10 new songs over the course of 10 weeks, with a new single coming out at midnight each Monday until the start of December.

'Heartbreaker' was released at midnight (EST) on iTunes, with Biebs whipping up anticipation for the release early on Sunday (6 Oct.) evening. He tweeted, "Less than 24 hours. Midnight est #MusicMondays #10weeks #heartbreaker r u ready??!!" prior to the release, revealing to his followers that this and the other songs to follow in his Music Mondays line-up are "different." He tweeted, "These songs are different. These are my #journals."

The single release of 'Heartbreaker' comes three days after Justin uploaded the lyrics video for the track on to his Vevo page. In his own appraisal of the track, posted on to his Twitter page, Justin describes the down-tempo R&B jam as being written by someone who is heartbroken, for anyone who has felt the same way. He says, "I'm very proud of this song and I hope it gives my fans some insight into my heart."

There are no prizes for guessing who the song is about, as Justin is apparently still hurting from his break-up with long-time flame Selena Gomez. The two split up during the summer, having been together for a number of years, with their eventual split coming after a period of difficulties in their relationship. Bieber later tweeted, "You will know my words, my heart. #journals."
