Justin Bieber's hit song 'Baby' has reached ''Diamond status''.

The 19-year-old singer - who is currently on the American leg of his 'Believe' tour - was presented with an award by manager and friend Scooter Braun during his show in Newark, New Jersey, on Wednesday night (31.07.13), to commemorate one of his first hit singles going 12x Platinum, making it the most sold digital single in American history.

The teenage heartthrob, who was awarded the distinction of ''Diamond status'' from the Recording Industry Association of America's Gold & Platinum Program, was thrilled with the news.

Justin excitedly wrote on Twitter: ''Amazing night and honored. So much more to do. I love my #Beliebers. Thank u!!''

Hoards of fans tweeted congratulatory messages, praising the Canadian star for his success.

The single is the lead track from his debut album, 'My World 2.0', and has been available for digital download since January 18 2010.

The video for the song also features cameos from Drake and Lil Twist and sees Jusitn chase after a the girl of his dreams.

It became the most viewed video in YouTube history on July 12 2010, remaining in the top spot for over two years until Psy's 'Gangnam Style' surpassed it.
