Justin Bieber has finally settled THAT assault case from three years ago, when he was accused of kicking and punching a paparazzo after being accosted on his leaving a Calabasas mall with his girlfriend at the time Selena Gomez. The trial was due to start yesterday (March 16th 2016).

Arguably, Bieber has grown up a lot since the lawsuit was filed in 2013, or even since the incident occurred the previous year. He has at least made a mature decision to settle the case; it's not clear how much for, though TMZ has claimed it amounts to mere 'peanuts'. The 22-year-old star was facing charges after the photographer in question, Jose Osmin Hernandez Duran, accused him of causing 'severe emotional distress'.

According to Associated Press, the incident took place when Bieber left his awaiting vehicle that was outside a mall in Southern California and gave Duran a flying kick to the abdomen followed by a punch to the face, apparently after the photographer refused to stop hassling him.

The case has now been dismissed, with Bieber shelling out to end it in a bid to save money in legal fees in the long run - especially since there were some rather incriminating photographs from the incident at the time that did not rest in his favour. I mean, his shoe flew off his foot!

It's not the first time Bieber has had a brush with the paparazzi. There was that other time in 2013 where he had to be held back by security after leaping out of his car in London when he took offence at some comments made by the photographers. Of course, no punches were actually thrown in that case.

In any case, the last thing Bieber needs right now is more trouble with the law; especially when you consider the string of offences already under his belt such as DUI, vandalism and dangerous driving.

Maybe he has more chill these days.
