Justin Bieber has taken it upon himself to wade in to the ongoing Taylor Swift vs Kanye West feud, siding with Kanye with a pretty shady Instagram post he took of a FaceTime conversation he had with him – and captioning it “Taylor swift what up”.

The 22 year old Canadian singer decided to throw this particular shade grenade into the feud on Tuesday morning (August 2nd) His hordes of Beliebers promptly piled in and set about spamming Swift’s Instagram feed with “Taylor Swift what up?”, a phrase that seems to have turned into 2016’s equivalent of Nicki Minaj’s “Miley, what’s good?” slam from last year.

Bieber took a screenshot of a FaceTime chat he had with Kanye earlier, with the rapper’s face looking pretty pleased as he did so. And no wonder, as he seems to have got yet another person on #TeamYeezy in the reignited saga he has going on with Swift over the last few weeks.

Bieber and Kanye have worked together before, going back to 2011 with a remix of the Biebs’ ‘Runaway Love’. The Canadian star told MTV News at the time: “Kanye’s a talker. You get him in a room and he starts talking and ranting, I just sit and I listen. He’s been through a lot of stuff and he’s not just talking to talk, he has something to say from his heart. I just sit and listen because he’s really smart.”

Recap: this all goes back to the lyrical content of Kanye’s song ‘Famous’, whose relevance was reignited with the release of the explicit nude video for the song in July. Swift has maintained that she never gave approval to Kanye using the lyrics “I made that b**** famous”.

On July 18th, Kim Kardashian released audio snippets of a phone conversation between her husband and Swift, in which she apparently grants permission for Kanye to reference her in the track’s lyrics – but not specifically the “b****” part.

“Where is the video of Kanye telling me he was going to call me ‘that b****’ in his song? It doesn’t exist because it never happened. You don’t get to control someone’s emotional response to being called ‘that b****’ in front of the entire world,” 26 year old Swift Instagrammed days later.
