We know that Justin Bieber’s been having a rough time of it lately, but escaping to space to get away from it all? That’s ridiculous! The 19 year-old is only going to be transcending the earth for a short time however, with Virgin boss Richard Branson confirming that both the Canadian-born popstar and his manager Scooter Braun will be among those taking part in the Virgin Galactic space flight.

Want to know what that is? Well here you go: The Virgin Galactic space flight will see ordinary Joes – well those who can afford to stump up $250,000 anyway – get their chance to enjoy the experience of weightlessness in space as the craft will be able to survive on the edge of the atmosphere for several minutes. Leonardo DiCaprio and Ashton Kutcher have already signed up for the mission, and it looks like Bieber and his manager Scooter Braun will also be coughing up the dough. Could be a whole raft of celebrity deaths there. Of his new passengers, Branson, who tweeted: "Great to hear @justinbieber & @scooterbraun are latest @virgingalactic future astronauts. Congrats, see you up there!"

The Sun says that there are plenty of other celebs who fancy making the trip, with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie said to be interested, while Beyonce and Jay Z apparently want to be the first artists to record a music video in space. The space craft made its first successful flight in April, managing to break the speed of sound in the process and Virgin want to start taking passengers next year. A statement on Virgin Galactic's website said: "Virgin Galactic aims to make sub-orbital space accessible to anyone with a dream to view the Earth and experience microgravity.”
