The Justin Timberlake comeback can’t really be called a comeback anymore, can it? After making a cryptic vid in which he announced his intention to make more music, he stormed the charts, collaborating with Jay Z and picking up a slew of awards on the way.

Justin TimberlakeJustin is untouchable at the moment.

Now he’s awaiting the outcome of five envelopes at the MTV EMA’s, having received the most nominations of anyone, and he’ll be playing Hollywood Boulevard courtesy of Jimmy Kimmel. He’s not back, he’s just here, and it’s like he never left.

Also performing at Kimmel-arranged ‘supergig’ is Paul McCartney, fellow boy band alumni of prodigious talent, albeit on a slightly different scale - of a different generation.

The ex-Beatle will take the stage on Monday night, while Timberlake will perform material from The 20/20 Experience - 2 of 2, his upcoming follow-up to his comeback record.

Watch Justin talk about his new movie, Runner Runner, with Ben Affleck and Gemma Arterton:

The former 'N Sync member will be buoyed by a fantastic haul of nominations form the MTV EMAs. He’s up for Best Male, Best Live, Best Video for 'Mirrors', Best US Act and Best Look, and we can see him picking up any or all of those given the year he’s had.

Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Miley Cyrus and Robin Thicke, are all up for four awards each, although all eyes are surely gong to be set on Cyrus; will she decide to tone it down, or take her twerking controversy even further?

Justin Timberlake performs at this year's iTunes Festival in London on September 29, while the EMAs come live from Amsterdam on October 11.
