Every time Kanye West irritates us with yet another ego-maniacal display of bravado, we tend to dig around to find something that reminds us why he is among the most hyped rappers in the world. It’s getting harder to justify, but the latest evidence for Ye’s talent is a 13 minute clip of him freestyling.

The source of the clip is none other than radio DJ Tim Westwood, who has been sitting on the video for some eight years. Uploaded to Youtube, it shows West rapping over some classic beats and even working some random fan messages into his lyrics. It’s pretty special and a reminder that, underneath the hubris, there is a lot of skill in that man.

Elsewhere, West has been having a hard time of it managing to undertake the guerrilla advertising for his new video New Slaves. Just days after Houston shut down a giant projection of the video on its buildings, so officials in San Antonio stopped the MC from showing his new video at the historic American civil war site The Alamo. To make matters worse, the Daily Mail reports that planned screenings at both the Bush Memorial and Central Library were also cancelled due to technical difficulties. “We were never asked, and we were never told what was going to happen' said Mark Loeffler, spokesperson for the Texas General Land Office, the Alamo’s caretaker.“It’s sad that people have such little respect for the Alamo.”
