It's the fifteenth and final season of 'American Idol' and, as expected, it's come with a few surprises. The first of which is an appearance from Kanye West at the auditions, pretending to be a humble wannabe rapper presenting the judges with a verse from his 2005 number one single 'Gold Digger'.

'My name is Kanye, I'm from the south-side of Chicago. Originally a producer, I always wanted to rap but nobody really believed in me', he explains to judges Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. with a smile. He's wished good luck by Urban and Lopez, and pregnant wife Kim Kardashian tells host Ryan Seacrest back stage that she's not nervous for him. 'I do really believe in him', she says. 'I didn't give any advice on singing/rapping. I just hope they really believe in him.'

West proceeds to beat out the first rap verse of 'Gold Digger', after mentioning that it happens to have one of the judges' names in it (we'll give you a clue; it's not Keith Urban or Harry Connick Jr.) as J-Lo whispers under her breath 'It better f***ing be me'. Obviously, the performance lands him a 'golden ticket' to get to the next round, and this usually serious and unsmiling rap superstar does a mock celebration, screaming: 'I can't believe it!'

The song originally featured Jamie Foxx and appeared on his first number one album 'Late Registration' in 2005. The track was his first hit to top the charts in both the UK and US. He's currently promoting the release of his upcoming eighth studio album 'Swish', featuring the singles 'Only One' with Paul McCartney, 'All Day' with Theophilus London, Allan Kingdom and McCartney, and 'FourFiveSeconds' with Rihanna and McCartney.

This episode from The Farewell Season of 'American Idol' premieres on January 6th 2016.
