The husband of reality star Kim Kardashian has told The Sunday Times Culture magazine that, like renaissance polymaths Michelangelo, Galileo and Leonardo da Vinci, he defies strict categorisation.

He said: "Imagine if da Vinci or Michelangelo or Galileo were asked not to think of anything except for the one thing they first became famous for.

The 38-year-old star may be hoping that he is compared favourably to his friends Jay-Z and Beyonce who have both headlined Glastonbury in the past and done so to wide praise, despite initial complaints from some festival fans.

Kanye’s own headline appointment has also attracted criticism with more than 130,000 signing a petition calling for him to be dropped.
