Kanye West's Interview Doesn't Need Jimmy Kimmel's Spoofing

When you're in a hole, stop digging. It's a simple enough concept: when you've done something ridiculous and made yourself a laughing stock, just keep quiet and take the consequences. Unfortunately, Kanye West has evidently never been taught this idiom and has charged, once again, bull headed into a rant.

This time, via Twitter, against comedian Jimmy Kimmel who mocked West's appearance on BBC Radio One. The interview, which took place on Monday, has been transformed by Kimmel into a spoof where West and Zane Lowe, the interviewer, are replaced by children. Strangely enough, it's actually far more amusing when West proclaims himself the greatest rock star in the world (because rap, apparently, is the new rock) or when he considers himself akin to Virgil, or Fendi.

Sadly, West has not taken Kimmel's mockery well. He has launched into a rant on Twitter within the last few hours (on 27th September). In amidst the swearing and the bizarre pictures, attempting to ridicule Kimmel, West has further emphasised his lack of connection with reality. West proclaimed his interview with Radio One as "the first piece of honest media in years", further claiming that "Jimmy Kimmel is out of line" in attempting to spoof it. 

As time went on (within less than hour) West's tweets became more bitter and, in this writer's opinion, pathetic. He attempted to rise above the situation by commenting that he, previously, had no issue with Kimmel and he had attended Kimmel's family wedding.  He then attempted to undermine Kimmel's use of children in the spoof, refusing to recognise that the humour was not derived from the child actors, as the content of their script. 

Then things became simply childish with West writing "Sarah Silverman is a thousand times funnier than you".  Brilliant - I bet Kimmel is sobbing himself to sleep.

Kimmel is entirely right to mock this arrogant narcissist. Personally, I don't think it's necessary to spoof the interview as West makes a perfectly good job of destroying his own credibility. 

So thank you Kanye West. I truly needed a giggle and as I've just spent five minutes cackling at your inflated ego and grating self-adoration, it's done the trick. No children needed.
