Kanye West had never heard Beck's album before the Grammy Awards.

The 'Only One' hitmaker, who stormed the stage at the star-studded ceremony earlier this month after the 44-year-old singer won Album of the Year instead of Beyoncé, admits he only listened to snippets of 'Morning Phase' for the first time while having dinner with Taylor Swift in New York City on Tuesday night (17.02.15).

He said: ''The other day I went to dinner, sat down with Taylor Swift. And ironically, they were playing the Beck album. Maybe they did it on purpose so I could finally hear it. But I was listening, [and] I was like, 'Man, this is kinda good. I ain't gonna lie.'

''I hadn't even heard it, man. I bet you that album is really good...Maybe it was potentially an Album of the Year.''

The 37-year-old rapper, who also humiliated Taylor at the MTV Video Music Awards in 2009 during an acceptance speech by grabbing the microphone and claiming Beyoncé should have won, caused controversy when he stepped up on stage alongside Beck, but then returned to his seat without speaking.

Despite admitting he was wrong, Kanye, who is married to Kim Kardashian West, brushed off suggestions Beyoncé doesn't need him to stand up for her.

He told Power 105.1's 'The Breakfast Club': ''You know, why is it Beyoncé? Why don't I go off on, like, whoever's going off on my wife on Twitter? I think Beyoncé is a great representation of an artist working hard, and trying her best, and getting the results from it...We have to respect greatness when we see it. I think she needs the proper accolades because she's an inspiration.''
