Kanye West's daughter has changed the way he raps.

The 'Bound 2' hitmaker has admitted his writing style has altered since welcoming his daughter North, two, with his wife Kim Kardashian West, with whom he's expecting a baby boy later this year, and he now sees her as his inspiration.

Speaking on SHOWStudio, he said: ''Having a family, period, has made me completely rethink the way I rap.''

He added: ''People extend their brand for a long time. There's true moments of genius, then there are moments of looking through the archives and putting s**t together.''

The 38-year-old rapper thinks popular music nowadays is based on something he's done in the last 10 years.

He explained: ''The majority of things that are popular now are really directly based on something that I've done over the past 10 years. You can pinpoint it ... I think it's amazing.''

He added: ''I think I had a purpose. That was my purpose. To innovate. That's what I'm trying to say. So, if you hear something that sounds similar to something that I've done before, that is an extension of a new album, for me.''

Kanye, who says he is influenced by Coldplay, J Dilla and Jay Z, refers to himself as a ''genius'' because he thinks other titles such as ''celebrity'' and ''rapper'' are negative.
